Thank you for finding us. We are happy you are here, and hope you visit daily. The doors to our home are always open for you, we doze but never close, and never go on vacation! We would like to point out, that while there are many other forums on the internet, ours is special and separates us from the rest, because:
We are here for YOU.
What sets us apart from other sites, is not to report news to you, but to provide an open forum for YOUR comments, observations and feedback. In our opinion, many message forums have lost sight of this approach, we have not. That is why we are here.
We proudly welcome everyone. But notably embrace students and people entering the media industry.
We discuss all topics of media and related matter, like print and new advertising techniques, industry education and job placement.
We are focusing on Chicago and the surrounding areas. But more importantly, topics and opinions from this area of local or national nature, from people anywhere in the world.
Like any venture in life, this will be an ongoing, evolving and growing project. So after registering, if you have any ideas or something you would like to suggest you want to see as a forum, make sure you head over to Tune Into Our Wave! (Site Questions & Ideas) and make yourself heard! While we can't incorporate everything suggested to us, your ideas matter and can shape the future where you hang out.
Finally, we want to address two aspects of the board setup.
You can read the forum without registering. To post content, you have to register with minimal information, and a valid e-mail account is required. An invalid or fake e-mail will not allow you to receive the activation e-mail. This is for everyone's protection.
Activation e-mails can take a few minutes or up to an hour to get to your mailbox, depending on your Internet Service Provider. Also, please make sure to check your spam folder if you have not received an activation
e-mail. If you have done both, please send us an e-mail Activation Help
Our Message Forum is set up to finely separate areas and topics of discussion, unlike other forums and message boards which are hard to follow and lead to unorganized and unnatural flow of data. These other forums also miss opportunity to foster rich pinpointed discussion because of their clunky and old fashioned setup.
So the welcome mat is out, come in and join the discussion!
Sincerely,
The ChicagoMediaChat.Com staff.
Our
Mission Statement
A safe friendly environment to discuss all types of media involving Chicago and the surrounding areas, for all visitors. Not an unaccountable cesspool of ever changing user names and personal insults.
Provide a safe, welcoming environment for students and entry level individuals. A facility to share and seek ideas, assistance and knowledge, thereby providing an enriched learning process.
Provide a gathering area for current and former industry individuals to convene, interact with each other by reading or contributing on the forum, providing a level of anonymity.
Provide an area for enthusiasts, fans, and all interested individuals to interact with each other, and those in the industry.
Absolutely no participation or interference from administrators, or moderators relating to valid discussions on the forums. There will be a "Topic Facilitator" which will initiate "Hot Topics" but will *not* participate in any responses. -- This is YOUR place to be heard, not ours. This is a *major* problem on forums run by others, definite "Conflict of Interest," depresses overall morale, pride, freedom of expression, creativity and originality.
Fair moderation. Moderation is to facilitate a safe environment for everyone. Not to harass or chastise contributors, or to delete topics at a whim, simply because the Administrators, Moderators or Staff, do not agree with the topic.
